(Portugal ◊ 1977)
RAM is the name under which Portuguese visual artist Miguel Caeiro (b. 1976) has operated since he began painting illegally in the streets in 1997.
A precursor of experimental graffiti and urban art, RAM is a creator of visionary worlds that express humanity’s primal desire to explore the vast unknown of both the cosmos and the mind. His energetic explosions of colour give life to fantastic realities governed by the dynamic and primordial forces of nature.
Working both indoors and outdoors, he has been materialising his artistic insights in a variety of media – from the detailed intimacy of watercolour paintings to the manifest grandeur of large-scale murals, from conceptual installations to experiments in land art and interdisciplinary performances.
Held as one of the most innovative artists in the global contemporary urban art scene, RAM lives and works surrounded by the mystic forests of Sintra. He has participated in countless art festivals and events around the world and regularly showcases his work in both solo and group exhibitions.
