Walls That Matter arrives at 8 Marvila, Lisbon with its first edition: a continuously evolving artistic takeover that transforms public space into an open-air art gallery.
Curated and produced by Because Art Matters, the project proposes a direct dialogue between mural art and gallery art — a relationship that continues in the Because Art Matters exhibition space, located right across from the murals.
The paintings began with the gallery’s official artists and continue to grow with the arrival of various invited artists, both national and international, who over the coming weeks will expand this living and constantly transforming intervention.
Participating in this edition are: RAM, Mário Belém, Jacqueline de Montaigne, Gonçalo MAR, L7 Matrix, Patrícia Mariano, Rita Ravasco, Arm Collective, Binau, Burry Buermans, Hélio Bray, and Dadara, among other surprise names joining progressively.
Walls That Matter is a gift to Lisbon and to everyone who lives in and visits the city, celebrating mural art at its best and paving the way for future editions.
