Birds was an art exhibition at the gallery of the Portuguese Justice Campus in 2019, where Patrícia Mariano explored the themes of rationality, intuition and emotion through figurative, but also surrealistic, digital paintings. With the rational human figure and the “irrational” and intuitive bird, the purpose was to show “Psychic automatism in its pure state, by which one proposes to express…the actual functioning of thought…in the absence of any control exercised by reason, exempt from any aesthetic or moral concern.” (Breton)
